Instrument Faif Atelier

Instrument Fair Atelier – a new point on the festival map!

Festival goers are more and more interested in building traditional instruments and even more often are in need of small repairs or luthier’s advice. The Instrument Fair has been bringing together themost outstanding instrument craftsmen from Poland and abroadfor seven years. In order to get the most of their presence andsatisfy these needs we have decided to open up the Instrument Fair Atelier.

For three days, 10:00-12:00 and 16:00–18:00, you will be able to meet instrument makers, observe them at work, ask their advice and exchange thoughts.

This year’s Atelier’s guest of honour is going to be Stanisław Wyżykowski (90), top contributor to the rebirth of hurdy gurdyin Poland, accompanied by a student Stanisław Nogaj, who continues this work.

There will also be the maker of basses, drums and mandolins Piotr Sikora and Warsaw-based instrument doctor Hubert Połoniewicz. Mateusz Raszewski is going to bring barabans, violins and Kalisz basses Icareved from one piece of wood). He and master Leon Lewandowski will be conducting workshops for violinists. Todar Kashkurevitch is going to introduce belorussian bagpipes. Andrzej Bieńkowski will tell about bass and show film records from the Music Lost And Found series about musical instruments (Thursday 20/04, g. 15:30–16:30).

And that is probably not all. We are going to have three days of great musical adventure.

The Atelier’s manager is Piotr Piszczatowski, founder of Instrument Fair and author of the website www.targowiskoinstrumentow.pl.(Traditional Music Embassy), Jazdów 3/20
