The sixth Instrument Fair will gather over 100 exhibitors from the borderlands of Poland, Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania. They will showcase a variety of traditional, historic, reconstructed and original instruments, such as hammered dulcimer, hurdy-gurdy, harmonia, shawm, ocarina, ligawka, nyckelharpa, clay birds, calimba, viola da gamba and many, many more.
The Fortress will host instrument makers, collectors, musicians, musicologists from the Polish Academy of Sciences and the University of Warsaw, and cult publishers like Muzyka Odnaleziona.
The children, small and big, will have plenty of games and activities all day long during the Little Mazurkas events.
Everyone is welcome to take part in dance workshops (Polish, Belarusian, Lithuanian and Swedish), instrument classes (fiddle and bagpipes), group singing and individual instrument presentations.
During the Fair we will hand out the Honorary Mazurka Award to show appreciation for artistic achievements and the willingness to share the beauty of music. This year, the Honorary Mazurka will go to our friends – it is impossible to imagine the Festival without them: womens’ vocal group from Gałki Rusinowskie, bass-maker Piotr Sikora and the master of bagpipes, Romuald Jędraszak.
