Dance workshop for beginners

Polish traditional dance workshop for beginners. Games and rhythm exercices as well as basic steps of two most important spinning couple dances from central Poland: oberek and polka.
In the course of rhythm exercices, games and movement experiments that encourage individual pursuits and improv participant will have the chance to experience from within the beauty and trance nature of Polish traditional music. An important value of the workshop will be the experience of deeply communal dimension of traditional spinning dance through direct contact with the musicians, other dancers and particular cosmic “choreography”.
The content of the workshop will be repeated daily, however we encourage people interested in improving their dance skills to take part in all three instalments.
Emilia Herda – ethnologist, drummer, dancer, singer and cultural animator, member of music bands Czarne Motyle, Wędrowiec (1st prize at the New Tradition Polish Radio Festival of Folk Music in 2004). Since 2001 she has been involved in Dom Tańca Association, where she took part in multiple artistic and educational projects and learnt directly from folk musicians. For many years she has run her own formula of Polish traditional dance workshops during the subsequent Tabor Domu Tańca camps. She organised kids’ theatre and music clubs inspired by folktales.
Workshop fees: Tuseday is free entrance. Other days – each entry is 10 PLN. Tickets are available at the festival information desk in the main lobby of Centrum Promocji Kultury, address: Podskarbińska 2
