DANCE From Łowicz

This time, we will be looking at dances from the Łowicz district. The art of the region is one of the icons of the Polish folklore. Doctored and prepared for stage performances, widely presented by the national song and dance companies, and then mimicked by regional groups – to this day, it continues to dazzle some and horrify the others. What was it really like? We will try to discover that through the oldest, pre- and postwar video materials.

During the workshop, we will be dancing polka, oberek, and kujon. We will take into consideration the contemporary predispositions and abilities of the generation devoid of a live contact with traditional music.
