Step into the rhythm of Hungarian folklore! Experience the energetic footwork of Szatmár and the elegant movements of Kalotaszeg in this unique dance workshop. These dance styles exist in Hungarian, Romanian, and Roma traditions, each with its own unique expression, music, and movement style.
This workshop will also highlight the Roma (Gypsy) dance elements, known for their vibrant energy, expressive movements, and improvisational nature. You will learn how these influences blend into the traditional Hungarian and Romanian styles, making them even more dynamic and captivating.
What to expect?
– Learn traditional steps and techniques from Szatmár and Kalotaszeg
– Focus on Hungarian, Romanian, and Roma dance styles
– Experience live music and authentic dance traditions
– A great way to connect with folk culture and have fun!
Bring enough water to drink and wear comfortable shoes. For men, we suggest flat soles with the so-called “slight slip”. For women, shoes with small heels.

She is a vibrant presence in world music, theater, and children’s performances, captivating audiences with her unique artistry.Zalán Pásztor – Folk Dancer & Instructor
A passionate folk dancer and educator, Zalán Pásztor is a student at the Hungarian Dance University and a dancer with the Corvinus Közgáz Folk Dance Ensemble. As the leader of the Pannónia Folk Dance Ensemble’s adult group, he is dedicated to bringing Hungarian dance traditions closer to both children and adults.
