Instrument Fair Atelier
Festival goers are more and more interested in building traditional instruments and even more often are in need of small repairs or luthier’s advice. The Instrument Fair has been bringing together the most outstanding instrument craftsmen from Poland and abroad for eight years. In order to get the most of their presence and satisfy these needs, we have decided to open up the Instrument Fair Atelier – this year for the second time. For four days, starting Friday the 24th April, you will be able to meet instrument makers, observe them at work, ask their advice and exchange thoughts.
THE ATELIER’S GUESTS
This year’s Atelier’s guest of honour is going to be Stanisław Wyżykowski (90), top contributor to the rebirth of hurdy gurdy in Poland, accompanied by a student Stanisław Nogaj, who continues this work.
There will also be the maker of basses, drums and mandolins Piotr Sikora, Katarzyna Zedel from the Museum of Folk Musical Instruments in Szydłowiec and Warsaw-based “instrument doctor” Hubert Połoniewicz.
Mateusz Raszewski is going to bring barabans, violins and Kalisz basses (carved from one piece of wood). He and master Leon Lewandowski will be conducting workshops for violinists. Jan Wochniak from Kłudno will introduce us to the craft of drum building. This outstanding company will be joined by Kuba Zimończyk, ready to give help and advice to the owners of accordions and harmonias.
And that is probably not all. We are going to have three days of great musical adventure.
