For intermediate and advanced dancers.
Today the appeal of folk dance and music has been felt by urban educated class, which never had anything to do with rural lifestyle and customs. Modern world conditions the way we move and act. It is also translated into the language of dance. Hence the freestyle, as we call it.
It is a dance based on steps and manner borrowed from village dancers from Central and Eastern Poland (Mazovia, Radom, Kielce and Lublin regions), creatively developed and adapted to modern public who do not work in the field and are not in touch with traditional culture on everyday basis.
In the course of this workshop we will improve the fluency of dancing in a couple in both directions of spinning and learn a number of embellishments, which will allow the dancers to better improvise on their own. The embellishments will also include elements from other folk traditions than Polish. The workshop is going to be an apportunity to think about the possibilities of creative approach to traditional dance.
