SINGING Wedding songs and melodies from the Łowicz region

During the workshop, we will discover Łowicz melodies – richly ornamented, rhythmically surprising – which used to accompany particular moments of the wedding ritual (dressing the bride, the blessing, leaving for the wedding, putting on the bride’s marriage cap) and learn about the basic structure of old-time weddings. We will be working on traditional wedding songs from the Łowicz district, found in archives and during field research.
