Janusz Prusinowski

Janusz Prusinowski (born 1969 in Mława) – violinist, instrumentalist, composer, folklore researcher. Artistic director of the Mazurkas of the World Festival. Creator of many projects and musical events related to Polish traditional music. In the 1990s, he played in the band “Brotherhood of the Poor” (1993), and was a co-founder of the Dance House of Warsaw (1995), an environment that laid the foundations for the development of the traditional (folk) music revival movement in Poland. At the time, he was also the creator of an educational program for elementary schools called “Janko the Musician” (1996).
As a musician, he is a disciple of rural musicians: Stanisław Lewandowski, Piotr and Jan Gaca, Kazimierz Meto, Józef Zaraś, Stanisław Stępniak and many others.
