Kapela Katarzyny Andrzejowskiej

Katarzyna Barbara Andrzejowska – a multi-instrumentalist who plays Polish country music. She drew her lessons from the source – the last generation of rural musicians. She was active in the movement to return to rural music in the 1990s, including in Warsaw’s House of Dance. She created several musical ensembles: Czyli Kieleckie, Project Juliusz Roger. Currently, she leads Kapela Katarzyny Andrzejowskiej and projects Leśny Ślad and Skład Przybrzeżny. Professionally, she is involved in children’s art education.

She plays instruments from the traditions of the Polish countryside (violin, drum, baraban, basetla, pedal harmony, dulcimer, holeless pipe, ocarina).

She has performed at competitions, reviews and festivals of traditional music in Poland and abroad (France, Portugal, Spain).

Her style grows out of the sound area of old country music. She preserves the original mannerisms, ornaments, old-time tuning and imperfections. She is fascinated by the source energy flowing from the depths of the ocean of primordial phonic spaces, the odd triadic dimension and trance-like quality.

Family traditions steer her toward adventure, premonition and the care of the bunch. Great-grandmother Pietruszka from Staroniwa was a village quack, grandfather was a lancer, while grandfather’s brother was a famous goalkeeper for Ruch Chorzów.

Katarzyna Andrzejowska’s band also includes her son Franciszek de Latour and daughter, Maria de Latour.
