Olga Kozieł
She has been working with traditional music since 2005 when, for the first time, she heard the natural, unhampered, resonant, meaningful singing which enthralled her. Since then, she has been learning from the rural singers, listening to archival recordings, and participating in various singing workshops. She is fascinated by different musical cultures – she spent a few years visiting the Ukrainian and Belarusian Polesia, went to Russia, she is interested in the sound of traditional Serbian songs and their particular singing technique. In Poland, her heart belongs to her native Lublin region, and to the dark, deep, mysterious sounds of Kurpie.
